专家简介
Dr.Weixing Zhao, Associate Professor of University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, earned his B.S. and Ph.D. from Peking University in 2002 and 2007, respectively, and later completed his postdoctoral training at Yale University School of Medicine. In 2019, Dr. Zhao joined the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio as an assistant professor in the Department of Biochemistry and Structural Biology and the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute. His research has shed light on the multi-faceted roles of the BRCA1 and BRCA2 complexes in chromosome damage repair and tumor suppression. Dr. Zhao's long-term research interest is to explore the BRCA1/2 tumor suppressor networks in various biological processes and uncover the molecular mechanisms underlying their pathogenic mutations associated with cancer and other diseases, with the ultimate goal of laying the groundwork for developing new therapeutic strategies. Dr. Zhao has acquired 3 R01 fundings, and his work has been published in many journals including: Nature, Mol Cell, Nat Commun, EMBO J and J Cell Biol.
